Edit the Blend/Gradient Blends/Gradients FLIGHTCHECK® usually considers a blend or gradient to be an "error" when the colors change from one spot color to another (as this poses a large problem when printing separations), or from one color model to another. Another factor to consider regarding blends and gradients is the fact that as the color changes are calculated through the spatial distance, "banding" may occur due to the fact that a particular color value may not be exactly reproduceable, and because of round-off a noticeable "step" will occur in the printout. For this reason, many professionals avoid using blends and gradients altogether, and instead use high-resolution dithered images (called "vignettes").
